Baptism

Go public with your faith.

Baptism is a celebration of what Jesus has already done in your life, and a next step you take in front of the people who love you.

What is baptism?

Baptism is an important step of obedience that shows others we have personally trusted Jesus for our salvation. Jesus was baptized when He was on the earth, and we do this to follow His example. When Christians are baptized, they are submerged under water to identify with the death and burial of Jesus and raised out of the water to identify with His resurrection.

1

A Picture Of The Gospel

Water baptism is a powerful symbol of what Jesus has done for us. While baptism does not save us, it publicly declares that we have placed our faith in Jesus and have begun a new life in Him.

2

Going Under The Water

Going beneath the water represents Jesus’ death and burial. It is a picture of the old life being left behind as we identify with Jesus’s sacrifice for our sins.

3

Coming Up From The Water

Coming up out of the water represents Jesus’ resurrection and the new life we now have in Him. Just as Christ was raised from the dead, we have been raised to walk in a new way of life through Him.

“We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.”

Romans 6:4

FAQ

Baptism Facts

Do I have to be baptized to be saved?

No. We believe salvation comes through faith in Jesus alone. Baptism is the next step of obedience that shows what has already happened in your heart.

Why should I be baptized?

Jesus was baptized, and He told His followers to be baptized too. It’s a way to follow His example, publicly say you belong to Him, and celebrate your new life with others.

I was baptized as a baby. Should I do it again?

Many people choose to be baptized after making their own decision to follow Jesus. If you’re wondering about this, talk with one of our pastors. We’re glad to help you.

Can my child be baptized?

Yes, once a child understands who Jesus is and wants to follow Him on their own. Reach out and a pastor or kids pastor will talk with you and your child.

Can we baptize my infant?

We baptize those who can choose to follow Jesus for themselves. For infants, we offer a child dedication, where your family commits to raising your child to know Jesus. You can learn more here.

What should I wear and bring?

Wear or bring clothes you’re comfortable getting wet in, preferably darker, plus a change of clothes and a towel.

I’m nervous. What if I’m afraid of the water or being in front of people?

You’re not alone, and it’s very common. Our team will be right beside you, and a pastor will guide you the whole way. The whole thing takes only a moment.

Do I have to share my story?

Only if you want to. Many people share a sentence or two about how they came to follow Jesus, but we’ll talk it through together beforehand.

Can my family and friends come?

Absolutely, please invite them! Baptism is a celebration, and it means a lot to have your people there!
